The Dumb Earth, Melbournes exponents of moody, cinematic
jazz-inflected style, released of their long-awaited second
album, "Blessings In Disguise" in September
2001.
Since relocating to Melbourne from Adelaide in 1995, The
Dumb Earth have released a debut album, "Walk The
Earth" (1997), and a CD EP, "Auld Lanxiety
Attack" (1999), as well as contributing tracks to
compilation albums such as the Burt Bacharach/Hal David tribute,
"To Hal & Bacharach". Their music has been used
in TV programmes including "Love Is A Four Letter Word"
(on which the band also appeared) and "Good Guys, Bad
Guys".
Their latest work comprises 12 songs that mark a shift in
The Dumb Earths distinctive sound, showing their brooding
sound-scapes and twisted roots style spreading in more eclectic
directions. "Blessings In Disguise" is also the
bands first totally independent release, on their own
label Hour Of Need, and is distributed on CD in Australia
by MGM.
