women in docs have established themselves as a popular act in Australia and the world. They are regulars on the festival circuit as well as spending a lot of their time touring in their own right around Australia and recently the USA. They are a lively and entertaining acoustic act who appeal to a wide range of people and ages.

Performing at major festivals has also added to women in docs popularity and ever increasing fan base. The duo slayed 'em at the Australian National Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and contemporary music festival, LIVID in Brisbane. They have recently blown audiences away at the Famous Spiegel Tent at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Melbourne Festival .

Selling out major Australian venues is a reality for women in docs. The Healer in Brisbane, Chapel off Chapel in Melbourne and School of Arts Theatre in North Queensland are some of the venues who have hosted women in docs triumphs. Other venues who extend return invitations to the women are The Basement, Sydney, The Governor Hindmarsh, Adelaide, and The Zoo, Brisbane.

The dynamic duo have shared bills with renowned Australian performers such as Mick Thomas (ex-Weddings Parties Anything); Sally Dastey (ex-Tiddas), The John Butler Trio and The Waifs .

women in docs have three EPs to their name. The self titled women in docs; www.womenindocs.com and a limited edition live EP. Sales of these CDs have been impressive for an independent act, with the .com EP charting in the Top 20 of the Australian Independent Record charts during 2001.

Their very first full length album will be released Sept 2002. A clear reflection of the powerful vocal harmonies and rhythmic guitars that are unique to women in docs - the new album also includes a more produced sound suitable for radio airplay and long-term listening. Supported by independent Sydney label Um & Ah, this record (like the EPs) will be circulated throughout Australia by MGM Distribution.

Most recently women in docs received airplay on Australian national Triple J network which added to ABC Radio previously playlisting their song, Tin Roof, from their debut EP. Their live concerts have been played on ABC's Radio National Music Deli - in particular their performances from Stage 1 at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, VIC and from the Marquee at Fairbridge Folk Festival, WA.

Extending their overseas audience is a priority for the duo from 2002 onwards. A tour of the New England region of the USA (New York, Boston area) occurred in May 2002. The pair blew away Boston audiences at the NEMO Music Conference at their showcase gig. They were one of six acts chosen to represent Australia at this conference. This trip has resulted in future touring plans and invitations to other festivals and conferences in the USA.

women in docs performed in Germany in 2002. ABC Radio National invited them to represent Australia at the European Broadcasting Union International Folk Festival in Moelln (near Hamburg) in June. This performance was recorded and broadcast across Europe by Deustchland Radio (Berlin).

This exciting acoustic duo have been powering through the Australian circuit over the past 4 years. With over 4000 fans on their mailing list, audiences adore their lively and entertaining shows, their inspiring songwriting and warm approach to the world. women in docs are one of Australia's hardest working and most popular new acoustic acts.

Adelaide Fringe Festival
The Famous Spiegeltent
Vibrant Brisbane female duo women in docs built a comfortable rapport with their crowd. Their effortless ability to capture the human condition and celebrate it with energy makes them stars on the rise.

Roz and Chanel used their pleasant personalities, well-rehearsed harmonies and subtle humour to express their soft acoustic rock and flavour-filled ballads. ***1/2

Club Acoustica CD Launch
The Basement Sydney

First act up for me (at the Club Acoustica CD Launch) are the Queenslanders, women in docs, and they do their thing - looking like they've been advised of time constraints and they're going to fit in their mini set regardless. It's an energy plus moment in the Club Acoustica spotlight tonight and the tune from the CD, Crown Street (dedicated to the Sydneysiders they stay with) is a doozy. Neal Hunt

Livid Festival
RNA Showgrounds

The first act on the Zoo Stage is women in docs, who open with the upbeat "Crown Street". "Noise Pollution" shows their energetic onstage performance and their ability to have fun. Their combination of acoustic and electric guitars lends a folk style to their music, as does the occasional fiddle, giving off a dreamy, relaxed aura. In between references to Bardot and Ricki Lake, you can tell these girls have the crowd eating out of their hands.
